Conference Commission on Religion and Race

303 · 2026

The Conference Commission on Religion and Race (CCORR) works to dismantle systemic racism. It reports a new Facebook page, participation in nominations, the Racial Justice and Healing Academy, reparations work moving to a Committee on Jubilee, and advocacy for an Inclusion and Advocacy staff position.

Commission on Religion and Race

The Conference Commission on Religion and Race (CCORR) traces its origin to the 1968 establishment of the General Commission on Religion and Race in response to 1960s racial strife, committing to discontinue systemic racism. The commission's 2025 work includes a new Facebook page developed with Connectional Ministries, active participation in the conference nominating process, and the Racial Justice and Healing Academy (RJHA)—work in which North Georgia leads the denomination, requiring participation (and GCORR bias training) to qualify for conference leadership.

The report notes that conference reparations work will transfer, by direction of the bishop, from a task force to a conference Committee on Jubilee, and advocates restoring the Director of Inclusion and Advocacy staff position. It references cabinet agreement to use proceeds from Black church property sales to fund Black Congregational Development grants. Chair: Rev. Dr. Vance P. Ross.
