Commission on the Status and Role of Women

The Commission on the Status and Role of Women (COSROW) advocates for the full and equal participation of women in the life and mission of the Church, a task assigned to each annual conference by the Book of Discipline. During annual conference, COSROW volunteers monitor sessions for inclusivity and submit a monitoring report to the conference and General COSROW.

Recent accomplishments include proposing a Parental Leave Policy that the Board of Ordained Ministry adopted, launching a mentoring program pairing clergywomen with experienced colleagues, creating a support system for clergy who have experienced a sexual ethics violation, communicating with the conference salary equalization task force, and developing educational materials to help churches and SPRCs welcome a woman pastor. At this annual conference COSROW celebrates the 70th anniversary of the ordination of women in The United Methodist Church. Representative: Lindsey Solomon.
