Episcopacy Committee Report: Georgia Area

102 · 2026

The North and South Georgia Episcopacy Committees celebrate Bishop Robin Dease's ministry across the One Georgia Area. The report notes her healing presence after disaffiliation, the Thriving Leadership Initiative, and the submission of the Georgia Unification plan in March 2026.

Committee on the Episcopacy

The chairs of the South Georgia and North Georgia Episcopacy Committees (Melissa Traver and Robert S. King) report on their Disciplinary task of supporting and resourcing Bishop Robin Dease. They celebrate her ministry across the One Georgia Area, riding the circuit to preach and worship, and providing a healing presence to congregations, mergers, and new church starts after the disaffiliation season. She has served on a Council of Bishops steering committee for covenant support groups.

The Bishop's Thriving Leadership Initiative continues to engage clergy, laity, and congregations, including multi-ethnic and new-church-start contexts. After eighteen months of discernment, the North and South Georgia conferences submitted their unification report in March 2026 (georgiaumc.org/unification-plan), the work of twenty working groups. The report also notes the December 2025 retirement of administrative assistant Renee Farrar and the welcome of Beth Blakeley in January 2026.
