Hinton Rural Life Center, a mission outreach and retreat center of the SEJ in the southwest corner of North Carolina, serves individuals, congregations, and rural communities through retreats, education, and missional outreach. In 2025, 1,186 volunteers served over 23,755 hours (valued at $826,436). The center hosted 365 confirmands in Theotokos Confirmation Retreats, 664 mission participants on home repairs and community projects, and 27 adults in its new Boomers on Outreach Mission (BOOM) initiative.
Through year-round Mission Outreach, Hinton served 1,287 Appalachian neighbors: 232 Safe & Healthy Home repair projects on 58 homes, 805 loads of firewood (valued at $161,000), Christmas gifts for 511 children, and a rural poverty simulation for 830 participants.
