Lay Servant Ministries equips laity for leading, communicating, and caring. In 2025 the conference had 74 Certified Lay Speakers and over 400 Certified Lay Servants, who provided over 458 pulpit fills.

Book of Discipline ¶266, ¶269

Lay Servant Ministries, framed by Book of Discipline ¶¶266–269, equips laity for Leading, Communicating, and Caring ministries. In 2025 the conference had 74 Certified Lay Speakers and over 400 Certified Lay Servants. Seventy-four individuals began the journey by registering for one of 16 Basic courses, with 397 total class registrations; 71 classes (basic and advanced) were offered, 62 in person or on Zoom and 9 in a self-paced Google Classroom format. Beyond the six required advanced courses for Lay Speaker certification, many additional advanced courses were offered.

Certified Lay Speakers provided over 458 pulpit fills for Sundays when clergy needed time away, and Lay Servants served in caring, outreach, and home-church ministries throughout the conference. Conference Director: Mary Williams.
