The Foundation for Retired Ministers maintains a permanent endowment to provide a living for retired ministers, widows, and dependent children of deceased ministers. Historically this was accomplished by acquiring homes for retirees; by the 1970s the conference directed the Foundation to liquidate these homes, and the last home was sold in 2025. The Foundation used some assets to help the conference liquidate the unfunded pre-1982 service liability that benefited retired clergy, and in recent years has funded the Wesley Woods Chaplaincy and assisted individual retirees with disability and health needs not covered elsewhere.
With home sales ended, investment income is now the Foundation's only revenue, requiring careful stewardship as it evaluates how best to meet emerging needs of retired clergy and families. President: David S. Naglee; Executive Director: Ed Tomlinson.
