503 · 2026

The North Georgia UM Committee on Scouting supports Scouting as a church ministry, focusing on starting and maintaining Scout units and encouraging faith-based programs. It hosted the Bishop's Scout Lunch in September 2025 with 50+ churches attending.

The North Georgia United Methodist Committee on Scouting (UMCOS) supports Scouting in the church—Boy Scout, Girl Scout, and Big Brother Big Sister programs—through two objectives: (1) starting and maintaining new Scouting units at churches, and (2) encouraging faith-based programs such as the P.R.A.Y. Christian education program. It provides advisory and training services to help clergy and leaders make Scouting a vibrant congregational ministry.

A major 2025 event was the Bishop's Scout Lunch on September 25, 2025, attended by 50-plus churches from all districts along with partners from GSUSA and Scouting America; Jai Ferrell, CEO of the Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta Council, addressed the gathering. Scout Coordinator: Chris Karabinos.
